Why is the poor rigidity of flat welded flanges

Flat welding flanges have poor rigidity and are suitable for applications with pressures less than 4MPa; Butt welding flange, also known as high neck flange, has high rigidity and is suitable for applications with high pressure and temperature. There are three types of flange sealing surfaces: flat sealing surfaces, suitable for low-pressure, non-toxic medium applications; Concave convex sealing surface, suitable for slightly higher pressure applications.

Mortise and tenon sealing surface, suitable for flammable, explosive, toxic media and high-pressure applications. A gasket is a ring made of a material that can undergo plastic deformation and has a certain strength. Most gaskets are cut from non-metallic plates or made by factories according to regulatory standards.

The materials for flat welding flanges include asbestos rubber sheets, asbestos sheets, polyethylene sheets, etc. Thin metal plates (tin, stainless steel) are also useful as metal gaskets that wrap asbestos and other non-metallic materials. There is also a coiled gasket made of thin steel strip wound together with asbestos tape. Generally, rubber gaskets are suitable for situations where the temperature is below 120 ℃.

Asbestos rubber gaskets are suitable for steam temperatures below 450 ℃, oil temperatures below 350 ℃, and pressures below 5mpa. For general corrosive media, acid resistant asbestos sheets are commonly used. According to the connection part, it can be divided into container flange and pipe flange. According to the structural type, there are integral flanges, annular flanges, and threaded flanges.

It can be cast, threaded, or welded. A flange (joint) consists of a pair of flanges, flanges, and several bolts and nuts. The gasket is placed between the sealing surfaces of two flanges. After tightening the nut, the specific pressure on the surface of the gasket reaches a certain value and deforms, and the gasket is filled with uneven orientation on the sealing surface to ensure a tight connection without leakage. Flange connection is a detachable connection.
